I Influenced Fashion: Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen Are CFDAs Accessory Designers of the Year for "The Row"

I remember in my younger days my mom could not keep me away from Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's series that featured the song "Bravery." I would even act out the minimal choreography they had.

When I think about it, it is like I grew up with them despite our age difference. They acted and sung, I wanted to act and sing. They are successful designers and I want to be a successful designer. It is like fashion, acting, singing, and all entertainment are one in the same; well, they are.


Knowing how they started with their lines, that sold in WalMart, Kohl's, and Marshall's is very inspirational. It is inspirational because they are now the 2014 CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Accessory Designers of the Year.

On Monday June 2nd, 2014, the influentials of fashion gathered for an evening of recognition, celebration, and of course style in no where other than the fashion capital of the world, New York City.
The spotlight was of course on the beautiful Rihanna, CFDAs Fashion Icon of the Year, but without these designers, Rihanna wouldn't have any pieces to wear to interpret her style and outfit ideas.

Wearing all black, the Olsen twins modestly and meekly accepted their award with a happy yet sorrow filled speech in which they dedicated to a friend and fellow designer, Jay Ott, who recently passed. They told the audience how he would've loved to be there with all of the people he looked up to in the audience including Rihanna and Anna Wintour.
