Fashion Fact of the Day: Azzedine Alaia- The King of Cling

So where do you think American Apparel got their idea for super tight sexy clothes from? Yup that is right, the King of Cling himself, Mr. Azzedine Aläia.

In the 1980s! Amazonian models were photographed in skintight dresses by Aläia while they had a pow wow in the street. 

Azzedine, who believed "the base of all beauty is the body, was inspired by Madeleine Vionnet. 

Azzedine also said, "There is nothing more beautiful than a healthy body dressed in wonderful clothes." 

He is the expert "bodyologist" when dealing with the female form based on his studies in sculpting. 

After being recognized as such,  Azzedine moved to Paris and worked for Dior, Guy Laroche, Yves Saint Laurent, Thierry Mugler but his best accomplishment has to be his own designs, stretchy dresses, that defined the Lycra revolution.

I Influenced Fashion: Pantone Reveals Color of the Year

For those of you who don't know, Pantone is "the global color authority and provider of professional color standards for the design industries," and this year they have made Radiant Orchard the color of the year!

Radiant Orchid, as described by Pantone, gives "rosy undertones that are radiant on the skin and produces a healthy glow when worn by men and women." The color has been featured in many Spring 2014 shows including designers that are included in Pantone's 2014 Fashion Color Report.

Radiant Orchard has also been included in the beauty and interior categories that make up the design industry as well. I think it is such a lovely color for Spring and Summer. What do you think?
